This month’s member-exclusive episode was inspired by a question asked on our last Thriver Circle monthly call.

“How do I get more of my customers to leave reviews?”

I had a pretty lengthly answer on the call, and I realised… I have quite a few strategies that I use to improve the quality and quantity of customer reviews!

In this episode, I share 7 strategies you can implement to improve the number and positivity of your customer reviews – without bugging your customers.

During the month, share your experiences with these strategies over in the Facebook group using the hashtag #GetMoreReviews

Highlights and quotes from this episode:

  • Begin cultivating your customer relationship when your someone buys from you with a private conversation or email.
  • Invest time in developing an initial communication email template. Jess has included hers in the show notes below.
  • “Be excellent in your customer service but keep your boundaries.”
  • Jess replies to emails in set hours but ensures her customer service is top notch.
  • “Be excellent, be helpful, be kind”
  • When someone sends you a private thank you email rather than a review, respond and thank them and include information on leaving a review.
  • Explain what reviews mean to you and your business.
  • Use the relationships you have made on social media. Do a shout out and request reviews with a link and an explanation on why this is important.
  • “Be vulnerable and be honest – people will respond to that”
  • Do not incentivise leaving reviews.
  • Create awesome packaging that makes the arrival of your item feel like a present.
  • Include a handwritten thank you note with a gentle call to action such as “If you love your product…”
  • If you are really keen for extra reviews try the follow up.
  • A little after the person has received their item, send a brief pleasant follow up.
  • Check in with the buyer to ensure they are happy with the purchase. Don’t ask for a review but reinforce excellent customer service.

My ‘Thank You’ Message Template

I want to say a personal thank you for purchasing Epheriell jewellery! Your purchase means that me, my husband, and our kitties can keep living the life we love: waking up each morning as our own bosses, handmaking modern, recycled sterling silver jewellery from our solar-powered home studio.

YOU are the reason we get to live our dream – thank you. I’m honoured that out of all the things in all the world, you’ve chosen to spend your hard-earned money on one of our creations – that’s really amazingly fabulous of you.

Sometime in the next 1-2 weeks, my husband Nick and I will sit down in our jewellery studio in sunny Queensland, Australia, and handcraft your jewellery with care and passion. You’re not getting a pre-made stock piece – we’ll make your jewellery specifically and specially for you alone.

Once we’ve decided that your jewellery is as beautiful as we can possibly make it, Nick will carefully wrap it up, finish it with a ribbon tied in a bow, and slip it into a bubble mailer, in which it will safely nestle as it embarks upon its epic journey from our hands to yours. We’ll be in touch to let you know when it’s on its way.

As your abode is across the ocean from mine, this journey will take 2-4 weeks.

*** Please note that tracking isn’t included as standard with international orders. If you’d like to upgrade to include tracking, please let me know and I’ll notify you of the upgrade cost for your country.

Being able to talk and work directly with you is one of my absolute favourite things about being an artisan, so if you have any questions or requests, please message me at any time! I’ll reply within 24 hours (excluding weekends) and help you out in any way that I can.

In Happiness,
Jess
