What do you make? | I collect, polish and hand carve Mother of Pearl from Abalone shells. They are then cut to fit lockets, or to make earrings, bracelets and pendants. In 2017 I am learning new skills to work with sterling silver and stainless steel so I can handmake my own lockets, and jewellery using recycled metals. |

More About Me | I am Mum to two active young boys, and husband to a scientist. I emigrated to Australia from the UK 6 years ago and am passionate about sustainable living, electric cars, and teaching my children to love the outdoors. |
My areas of expertise that apply to handmade business: | I have a corporate background in banking and project management, so all things planning, organisation and finance come naturally to me. I use most of my husbands tools in my work so I have a working knowledge on working with dremels and rotary tools, cutting and drilling shells, glass and metals, and have beginners understanding of annealing, soldering and leadlight work. I love research, discussing ideas, supporting and promoting other businesses. I have a good knowledge of setting up a market stall, what to take to your first market, and have recently started to organise markets so can share my learning from both angles. |
