| More About Me | I was born and raised in Zimbabwe. I went to uni in the US and ended up living there for 19 years. I am a single mom and when my daughter hit the teenage stage, her head started to spin and I decided we needed to come home to Zim! I came back home about 10 years ago. I always missed the African bush but I felt it was important to bring my teenager home to Zimbabwe for a little grounding! I am a bit of a work-a-holic and still work for my mom doing marketing for her clothing factory - that's about 60 hours a week. I started The Zuri Collection about 2 1/2 years ago - my daughter was off at uni and I needed something to keep me busy! |
| My areas of expertise that apply to handmade business: | I did silversmithing in uni but gave it up after doing it about 5 years. I wasn't making the serious money doing "art" work that I needed to and being a single mom I just needed to pay the bills. Got my degree in journalism and ended up doing marketing for the last 19 years. I started back into the jewelery world doing the marketing and sales for a friends jewelery business. I started to do my own designs and realized I wanted more control of my own designs and decided to open up my own workshop. I still sell for my friend but also design and make my own. |
